In the heart of the mountains

In the heart of the mountains, where time flows to the rhythm of nature, the Chalet Brento roots itself in an ancient and authentic history. This place was once known as the Malga dei Bepìni, built at the end of the nineteenth century by the brothers Mansueto and Egidio Sansoni from Lundo, as can be clearly seen from the date engraved on the door lintel, which we carefully preserved throughout the renovation period of the malga, and later managed by the sons Agostino and Achille.

The Malga dei Bepìni

The Malga dei Bepìni was not a simple communal malga, but a refuge for shepherds and livestock, witness to an era when life was marked by mountain grazing and the tireless care of the land and animals. The communities of Lomaso, Padaro, and Vigne had grazing rights on the malga and mutual knowledge was deep.

Between the Giudicarie Valley and the Lake District
and Upper Garda

The malga, located in a strategic mountainous area, between the Giudicarie Valley and the Lake District and Upper Garda, soon became a reference point for seasonal alpine grazing. Up to fifty brown alpine cattle were hosted here. The alpine grazing cycle began in mid-June and ended in early October, coinciding with the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, a central celebration for the Lundo community. During this period, the livestock grazed at high altitude, contributing to the regeneration of agricultural lands in the valley, which were used for growing cereals and potatoes.

Water management

Water management was and still is a constant challenge. At the Casale, water resources are scarce, and for this reason, the animals were led daily to the Póza della Móla, an essential watering point south of the Prà dei Mùci.

2000s

With the passing of years and the decline of rural civilization after the war, the Malga dei Bepìni began to lose its centrality. The pastures gradually reforested, and the structure, once solid, began to deteriorate. In the early 2000s Mariarosa, daughter of Agostino, together with Antonio decided to renovate the northern part of the building, bringing some warmth back to a place that seemed now abandoned and forgotten.
This commitment continued with the new generations who with courage, dedication and passion imagined and created a structure linked to the tradition of the territory and the family, but at the same time engaged in modern hospitality.

Chalet Brento today

Today Chalet Brento has become a point of reference for those who want to experience the mountains in an authentic way. It is the ideal place for those looking for a refuge between Garda Trentino and the Giudicarie, far from mass tourism, where to reconnect with nature and truly slow down. Here the experience is not constructed, but real: silence, woods, open panoramas and the simple rhythm of life at altitude accompany every stay, turning it into something unique.
